Dear Sir,

I have been reading and researching about the best DNN module to use...i tried Loccalization Extensions and i really liked it a lot but the problem is that somethign happened ot my Site Settings and i can not change anything in it without corrupting my whole site. the whole skin gets corrupted and many links and icons are lost and no editing anymore! And Localization Extensions are not ansdwering questions at the moment as they are very busy.

Now, i need to purchase a good multi langugae module with good support, and from my search i have found Apollo, AllDNN, and Locopon's DSLocalizator.

I don't know which one to choose? all i want is ifor my site to support English, Turkish and Arabic, to have different pages all toegtehr not just the same page localized! no, the english langugae should have pages and the Turkish should have other pages and Arabic too...i mean the pages/ content is not identical...

and i need good support...which one to choose plz? cna you help?

Thank you.

Well, this problem with our localization extensions was solved with the client under an hour after he has contacted us. The problem was not related to our extensions, but rather to a bug in DNN 5.1.4. We have always provided with good support, but there are some users simply too quick on the panic button.

Nehal, please consider that you are giving us a bad reputation with your comments, while we have fixed your problem in less than 1 hour, which didn't have anything to do with our extensions, that is available for free... Try to find this kind of support for a free extension.

Hello,

I would like to thank Localization Extensions for answering my question and solving the problem that obviously DNN 5.1.4 has causing all languages defined to be disabled. My support question was truly answered in less than an hour by their helpful online assistance.

However, there remains three important points that have to be raised:

1-Their support forum was not accepting questions for about two days during my site crash.

2-They answered my email after i contacted them through their Contact Us page frankly very fast.

3-Obviously DNN 5.1.4 has bugs causing problems with multi languages or localization in general when integrated with it. Accordingly the same problem happened again after it was fixed just by changing some language properties in the site. the whole site was not properly functioning at all that i had to restore an old backup.

The result is since I am not that good technically and since the problem keeps occurring with any change and I cant fix it alone as I need clear detailed steps from the support team, I am resorting to defining child portals instead of using any multi language software unfortunately. I really hoped I could use the Localization module which is very easy and functions perfectly if it wasn't for DNN 5.1.4 instability with it, which makes me fear taking more risks.

So, if anyone can inform me of the disadvantages of using child portals that would be great.

Thank you.

As we have discussed with you by email, we are unable to reproduce the error you had / are having with our support forums.

If you decide to go the child portals approach, do consider:

- all data will be isolated by portal. For instance, you will have 2 sets of users, one in each child portal. You will not be able to use the copy page to create a localized version of a page that exists in another language. When administering, you will have to log to each portal as each portal will have its own authentication. Also consider sitemap, etc.

- you will not have support for directing the user to a preferred language. You will probably be forced to have a landing page, where the user will select its preferred language. You will not have browser language detection, which would enable the user to be redirected to its preferred language on home page access.

Our localization extensions were actually built to avoid these limitations, by enabling 2 site branches inside the same portal. As for DNN 5.1.4 problems with enabled / disabled languages, I believe it can work OK once you have forced it to enable the proper languages, and use a valid portal default language.
